Which drug rehabilitation program to choose from
There are many varied forms of drug rehabilitation programs available to suit a vast majority of people. It can become somewhat overwhelming when choosing a drug rehab center. This page is meant to give an outline of the most common types of drug treatment programs that are available in Canada.

Not all drug treatment center methods apply to everyone. Some programs will have better results when taking into account the needs, specific problems and the beliefs of the individual seeking drug treatment. There are however some drug addiction treatment programs that are known to give better results no matter what the issues mentioned above are.

The delivery of funded drug treatment services and systems in Canada is primarily the responsibility of provincial and territorial governments. In 2008, the Canadian government, as part of the Treatment Action Plan under the National Anti Drug Strategy, announced the Drug Treatment Funding Program (DTFP). The Canadian government provided $121 million over a period of five years to provincial and territorial governments to strengthen treatment systems and invest in early intervention treatment services for at-risk youth. In all a stagering  $578.6M. Although this enormous amount, the funded drug rehabilitation centers are full and have waiting lists that are sometimes as long as three months.

Below are the 13 most common drug addiction treatment options, there are many more therapies; these are just a few forms. Please keep in mind that the government funded drug addiction centers will not deliver all of these. If you need help in choosing which drug rehabilitation program is the right one for your needs please call us today.

Much of the philosophy of 12-step is based on reaching out to a higher power for strength to overcome one's addiction.
